DIY twee pop, the debut release from Brooklyn duo Jeanines. Sixteen songs of pretty punk, glorious minor chords, and stripped-down but somehow profound lyrics. Spunky, simple, and rough around the edges, but with plenty of pop appeal. Short and catchy—few songs clock in over two minutes. Channels the aesthetics of The Softies, Talulah Gosh, and Heavenly. Fits in perfectly with contemporaries Alvvays, SASAMI, Tennis, Fazerdaze, Cults, etc. All tracks FCC Clean. Start with: 11, 9, 5, 7, 2, 15

(1.) Jangly, energetic (*2.) Passionate, zealous (3.) Gloomy, forlorn, steady beat (4.) Marchy and driving with a persistent snare (*5.) Bouncy melodic bass with layered vocals (6.) Layered and choir-like (*7.) Punchy, lo-fi (8.) Strummy, jangly, upbeat (*9.) Lo-fi with stretched vocals (slightly off-key in the best sort of way) (10.) Confrontation, direct (*11.) Minor chords, stretched vocals (12.) Frustrated love ballad (13.) Layered reverbed vocals, 60s psychedelic guitar (14.) Pouty forlorn love song (*15.) Reflective coming-of-age story (16.) Sunny wake-up call with great vocal melodies
