Strange Ranger - Remembering the Rockets

Strange Ranger is an indie band with roots in Montana and Portland. “Remembering the Rockets” drifts back and forth between midtempo tunes and slower musings, all connected by a style that is slightly twangy and sweetly pitchy. If that’s not your kind of thing, track 5 features a female vocalist who is much more of a traditional singer.
RIYL: Joyce Manor, Pinegrove, You Blew It!
FCC: Track 8
Recommended Tracks: 1, 5
1. (3:46) Leona** – Sing-songy intro that hops along, “bada-da-da-da” chorus
2. (3:19) Sunday – Almost reads like a Gin Blossoms song, melodic melancholy
3. (3:25) Ari Song – Slower, more atmospheric
4. (0:52) athens, ga – Interlude track, synth-y pipes over ambient conversation
5. (3:38) Message to You*** – Another slow song. Soft female vocals grounded by bass, drums, and piano.
6. (4:10) Nothing Else to Think About – Mellow, melodic
7. (0:47) rockets – Another interlude, pipes, distortion, female humming
8. [FCC: fuck] (3:56) Ranch Style Home** – Weighty and slightly snarly, big choruses
9. (3:31) Pete’s Hill – Another mellow song, strumming
10. (4:07) Beneath the Lights – Darker song, slightly fuzzed distortion
11. (3:40) Planes in Front of the Sun – Sweet and simple piano line shines through
12. (1:42) ’02 – Interlude track, faded pipes and plucking
13. (3:35) Living Free – Slower track, drums plod along
14. (2:26) Cold Hands Warm Heart – Stripped back: sad ‘n’ sweet piano/vocals
