Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2019-11-14
Orchestral metal. Heavy drama with use of strings, concert pianist, choral vocals, less reliant on straight walls of Marshalls. Vocals switch from operatic competent crooning to demon cookie monster mid-lyric at time. Big heavy stuff with elements of black and death metal, but an overall doomy feel. Play with new Bolzer.

1) (1:39) chill minor key orchestral intro with ocean waves, choral vocs 2)* (8:24) big slow drama with operatic vocals contrasted with demonic cookie monster, orchestral metal, after 6 minutes its shifts into 2/4 pummeling double picked blackness 3) (5:41) big heavy drama, operatic vocals reappear later 4) (8:10) slower and swaying, operatic vocs turn evil 5) (5:20) slow sway from start, midway the “nice” vocals appear 6)* (8:48) big heavy slow with a background zen chant, opera vocs to start, switches out to darkness shortly, super nice piano near end 7) (7:23) starts led by piano and “nice” vocals, dark feel, the demon voice appears and the tone begins to build
