Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2019-12-06
Flaming Lips and early Pink Floyd come to mind, with a dash of Neu. “Low Fi pop with elements of psych” describes the work of this Connecticut artist well. Produced by Adam Granduciel (The War on Drugs) the influences in this music feel like they range widely, with proto early 90’s low fi (GBV and Lips) coming to mind then swinging wildly to Can then over to ELO or Supertramp, mellowing out by passing around a big joint of Columbian Gold on the blanket at the festival in the park

1)* (2:58) big dramtic psych flavored upbeat pop that starts off slow. 2) (2:47) slow strummy with fuzzy lead and cool old school phase shifter, American Analog Set 3) (3:03) slow acoustic guitar ballad feel 4) FCCS 5) (3:43) sensitive vocals, chill and strummy 6)* (10:28) kinda pink floyd feel with piano and beat, vocs. After 3 min it launches into a driving krautrock psych feel shifts to slow psuedo jazz stoney trip 7)* (3:54) strummy soaring krautrock feel 8) (4:46) a 70’s early Supertramp tone with a reed/brass and guitar pleasantries 9) (8:35) upbeat bass driven very flaming lips, falsetto fragile voice.
