Babylon Disco is the sixth release by Saitama, Japan's experimental electropop enthusiast Black Opal. Black Opal is the instrumental side project of prolific artist Kaz Takamasa, better known to the world as Boys Age and for his psychedelic bedroompop hi-fi recordings. Similar to his predecessors, Babylon Disco is part vaporwave, part deep-house and part anime funk. Futuristic odd glares in soundtrack format and easy steps to learn. RIYL: Terlu, Boys Age, Andrew Gordon, H Takahashi, and Imaginary Square Room label FCC CLEAN! Recommended Tracks: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 1. (2:56) ***City – Fast tempo. 1980's foreign TV ads vibe. Upbeat and pleasant. 2. (2:08) **Amber – Medium-up tempo. Part European contest show soundtrack, part retro house music for elevators. 3. (2:09) Contract – Medium tempo. Sci-fi all the way. Part-time vaporwaver. 4. (1:42) **Dinner – Medium tempo. Circus video game music? Lots of colors and spectacle . 5. (3:17) **Liquid – Medium-up tempo. 1980s foreign TV ads vibe but calmer. 6. (3:14) ***Cup – Fast tempo. Classic vaporwave sound. Cool composition. 7. (1:48) Power – Slow tempo. Chilling in the future. |
