ALTERNATIVE COUNTRY
Excellent album from Boston-based female trio, Della Mae, displays a broadening both stylistically & thematically from their bluegrass roots. On various tracks, keys, drums, and electric guitar are added to their neo-trad sound of acoustic guitar, mandolin, and fiddle. Tracks 2, 7, 11 feature harmony voices by the wonderful McCrary Sisters. RIYL Uncle Earl, The Be Good Tanyas, Po’ Girl, Indigo Girls.
No FCC issues.
1 *** Mid-tempo. A stirring and uplifting message of unity speaks to Dr Christine Blasey Ford’s courageous testimony. Play this! (3:54)

3 Mid-fast. Pretty song about sticking together & seeing things through. (4:19)
4 ** Fast toe tapper. Energetic love song with great ensemble playing. (2:41)
5 * Mid-fast. Fading love with gambling metaphors. (3:51)
6 Mid-fast country-rock. A female entry in the “ramblin’ man you can’t tame” genre. (4:31)
7 Mid-tempo. About overcoming timidity & learning to speak out. (3:43)
8 * Mid-slow. Sad, country ballad about fading love. Pretty song; nice vocal. (3:15)
9 * Fast. Lively instrumental folk dance. (2:44)
10 Mid-tempo. Retro honky-tonk song about a girl who’s the life of the party. (2:34)
