INDIE ROCK Two bands – one from the US, one from the UK – each separately cover a song written and recorded by the other. (I had to dig a bit to figure this out.) Discogs says The Young Sinclairs, from Roanoke, Va, have done 7 albums since 2005; The Hanging Stars, out of London, are newer with 3 albums since 2016. Each has a smattering of singles & EPs as well. Oddly, the American band sounds English, while the English band sounds American. FCC clean I loved both these tracks. Play ‘em: 1 ** Mid-fast rocker. The Young Sinclairs perform “She Never Sleeps” from The Hanging Stars’ album, Over the Silvery Lake. Sounds like a lo-fi demo of Sticky-Fingers-era Stones, complete with Keith-like riffs. (2:36) 2 ** Mid-slow Cosmic-country/country-rock ballad. The Hanging Stars perform “All Fallen Down” from The Young Sinclairs’ album, This Is the Young Sinclairs. The singer channels Gram Parsons and there’s a sweet pedal steel guitar. (3:21) | ||
