Incredible ambient cumbia compositions from Colombian Nicolás Vallejo, recorded in isolation in a DIY studio and later mixed/mastered with the help of Daniel Lofredo Rota, who runs the top-notch +ambién cassette label out of Quito, Ecuador. Inspired by self-introspection, misty nature recordings, and Vallenato Columbian folk music (and aided by YouTube meditation videos). All tracks are awesome, but start with 8, 2, 7, or 10.

1. Wandering, ghostly layers of panpipes and a slow-building beat
*2. Deep and resonating with echoed flutes and vocal snippets
3. Chugging half speed cumbia
4. Chopped and screwed accordion/acoustic guitar. Nice sunny swell at the song’s end
5. Free-fall ambient with heavily distorted washed-out vocals
6. Peaceful midtempo with steady drums and synth
*7. Vaporwave-tinged cumbia with slow-mo vocal samples and a distinctly retro feel. Brings Macintosh Plus and Ferraro to mind
*8. Rumbly “eléctrica selvática” (jungle electronic) music. A gyrating cumbia beat with bird calls and other animal shenanigans. Really awesome dense sound
9. Misty fuzzed-out ambient with bleary flutes and subtle percussion
*10. Beautiful ambient swells with foundsounds and watery percussion
