Calming, flowing, intricately layered ambient music. Black Decelerant is the duo of Charleston-based Khari Lucas (also known as Contour) and Portland-based Omari Jazz. Framed as an anticapitalist meditation on rest, the record is composed mainly of drone textures, subtle loops, synth piano, and electric bass. RIYL Nala Sinephro, Wayne Phoenix, Stars of the Lid, Seefeel, Aphex Twin's ambient work. Favorites: 1, 2, 5, 6. No words (except on 4), no FCCs.

1. *(5:50)—Whooshing textures, grand drones. Evokes a spaceship or a giant warehouse at night.
2. *(4:56)—Woozy electronic piano, textures played backwards, nimble bass guitar.
3. (5:53)—Glitchy textures. Soft, wending, laserlike synth.
4. (1:18)—Manipulated sample from the groundbreaking 1960s–70s TV program Black Journal. Slow piano.
5. *(2:35)—More cut-up textures. Airy, ascending feel. Atmospheric trumpet by Jawwaad A. Taylor.
6. *(3:30)—Underwater feel. Soft, free-tempo electric guitar and bass.
7. (4:42)—More agitated, with a juddering rhythm and a buzzing synth melody.
8. (3:46)—Backward piano. A soft, stuttering loop. Cinematic second half with trumpet.
9. (5:25)—Intense first half with choirlike synths. Becomes gentle suddenly, builds again.
10. (4:50)—Bonus track. Swirling textures. Bleepy synths, cymballike electronic percussion. Dense.
