“Thinking, Dreaming, Scheming!” Lightheaded
Latest from the five-piece band from the Jersey shore. Five new songs have been combined with their debut EP from 2023 to deliver a full album. The music is a throwback to the simple songwriting at the heart of the innocent jangle and power pop of the 60s, with the occasional nod to girl groups such as the Shangri-Las. Plenty of guitars, sunny harmonies and chamber pop elements. Many tracks are very short! RIYL: Camera Obscura, Belle & Sebastian, light power pop, and classic jangle pop and girl groups.

Recommended: 1, 6, 10, 9, 8, 4, 2. No FCCs noted.
1. (3:15) Same Drop — Jangly sunshine pop. Catchy melodies. Lovely, harmonized vocals. Perfect lead single! ****
2. (1:49) The Lindens, The Lindens, The Lindens! — Lilting chamber pop sounding very 60s Brit pop, with some surprising changes of form. ***
3. (1:28) Me And Amelia Fletcher — Garage pop. Sharp, angular guitars and golden harmonies, with chugging bass and rapid-fire snare drum.
4. (1:59) The View From Your Room — Echoes from the groovy 60s. Heavily reverbed guitar and indistinct vocals. Flute and bird sounds mixed into a stop-and-go arrangement. Ends unresolved. ***
5. (3:51) Crash Landing Of The Clod — Measured pace. Bigger power pop with a throwback girl group vibe. Chime-y keys and dreamy lead vocals.
6. (3:53) Mercury Girl — Full and flowing, with guitar effects and shimmering, bell-like synths building a nice wall of sound. A hint of jangle. Warm backing vocals swell toward the end. ****
7. (3:28) Orange Creamsicle Head — Taps an old-fashioned, heavily reverbed foundation accompanying sweet harmonized male vocals.
8. (1:56) The Garden — Another exquisite chamber pop tune sung almost in a round with rich, harmonized backing vocals. ***
9. (2:19) Patti Girl — Spot-on, short jangly cover of “Patty Girl” by Gary & The Hornets from 1966. Fun, guitar-centric garage pop. ****
10. (4:30) Love Is Overrated — Epic girl group closer, reminiscent of the Shangri-Las. Melodramatic throwback feeling, with pulsing organ, pounding drum and swirling violins. ****
