Centered around the bass & low male vox. Great production. New from goth-dance stalwarts most famous for their fun 1985 goth hit "Nemesis" & who have been rather active in the 00's and beyond. Not the full original band, "...down to Barry Andrews’ efforts alone ... Wendy and Sarah Partridge are here singing backing vocals...." .
From postpunkmonk.com : ."Due to the co-writes with Mike Tournier [Fluke] there’s a dance undercurrent used, ironically of course, on a few of the tracks. Perhaps as a consequence of his expanded responsibilities sans Barker and Marsh, Andrews played his keyboard hand close to the vest, with some organ patches and Fender Rhodes pointing back to his youth more than anything else.
"I noted certain themes were used throughout the album. There’s a 'pleasure vs its opposite' thread snaking through the album, The sense of defiance that manifested on the preceding 'Bowlahoola' has given way to a more nuanced position on the Kübler-Ross scale here."
1. + Good bass groove, mid-slow tempo
2. 3/4 time, ironic
3. Rap-song... creepy bug buzzes in the intro & bridges
4. + Good groove, mid-tempo, restrained
5. + A little lounge, Americana, dynamic range, and that groove
6. good-natured track, doesn't quite do it for me though I relate to the chorus "I’m the only one on the floor, idiot dancing"
7. + faster tempo, hints of IDM
8. Calm, smooth reflection
9. + Mid-tempo restrained beats sway
10. + Angry closer, mid-tempo, not being quite as grand as wanted
11. Original of (1) The Curse [FCC "shit"]
12. Original of (3) Wasps in Heaven [FCC "what the fuck" in middle]
13. Original of (10) Monument [FCC half-baked shitter]
