Rock, blues, classical guitar, skronk, and dissonance, sometimes all at once. Demo tapes and assorted rarities from the perennial "most underrated" influential art-rock-whatever band - if you've never heard em, this may not be any of their classic records but it isn't a bad place to start, either. 1* - catchy witch doctor rock 2* - raspy, quickstep waltz blues 3* - bassy lo-fi slinky strum 4* - slow rev-up into slidy stomp 6* - dirty twang 7 - skronky horns and twangy guitar -> quiet vague conversation 9 - repetetive twang 10 - multiguitar avant dancy poptune 12 - swirly jagged guitar patters w/an almost jazz structure 13* - twittering sax and lots of bashing 14- xylophone, guitar, hoarse shouting - ends abruptly 16* - short, a cappella, recorded over the phone - blues moan 17* - lo-fi psychedelic harmonica blooz 18 - classical electric guitar, live, short 19 - solo harmonica w/a little talking intro & laugh at end - short 20 - solo vox - weird compression at times - short 21 - bluesy stomp w/harmonica 22 - spoken intro, chimey guitars, opaque lyrics and growly vox 24 - fuzzy piano, short 25 - slightly off-kilter classicalish elec. guitar | ||
