This album rules. Sugarman 3 play some great soul jazz. These songs feature drums, Hammond organ, sax, and guitar playing classic boogaloo--a combination of jazz and soul/funk. The fact that this album has a Lou Donaldson and a James Brown tune betray the musical heritage here. I am really impressed with the releases from Desco records, recently Lee Fields and now this--damn! Play all tracks repeatedly, my favorites (in order of dopeness) are: 1, 4, 5, 2, 11, 10, 3, 6, etc
(3:48) Awesome Boogaloo!! Starts with a great drum break, then the party lyrics and funky guitar and Hammond kick in.
(3:32) Rolling bluesy boogaloo. Organ solos, then jams with sax
(4:53) Down-tempo but still rockin', interplay of organ/sax/guitar
(4:01) Up-tempo Lou Donaldson tune. Another song with a kick ass drum break.
(3:16) Slower, tangy with gutar and flute chillin' on a zesty bed of Hammond.
(4:53) Up-tempo soul jazz, solos from sax and organ.
(3:41) Mid-tempo, features guitar
