This is a re-recording of 11 original tracks from the 'MANNIX: Themes from the Original Score of the Paramount Television Show" LP plus 4 new Schifrin tunes inspired by MANNIX, the late 60's detective drama. As television score music, much of this is bland or cheesy jazz flavored pop or other throw-away incidental music, however Schifrin mixes in the occasional gem or sweet breakbeat. Try tracks 2, 5, 3, 13--Lalo Schifrin at his best
1) Title track from MANNIX, a jazzy waltz. Not as good as Schifrin's best stuff--sort of bland and lacks the funk and tension seen in 'Mission-Impossible' or 'Enter the Dragon'
2) Up-tempo jazzy blues, driven by rising riff with funky horns
3) Down tempo with ominous organ offset by flute, vocals, sax
5) Funky pop jazz with organ and horns, nice breakbeat
13) Guitar, Organ and Horns playing an up-tempo groove with deep percussion.
