Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2004-10-20
This is alt.folk/country mostly: urban hipsters channeling their inner redneck. But a few cuts don’t drink from that well and the result is stripped down high quality sadcore/Americana: brushed understated drums, fiddle, pianos, occasional trumpet, male lead and fem harmonies, brings to mind the best of Tindersticks, Tarnation, Cowboy Junkies, Low

1) slow brushed drums, fiddle, tinkling piano. Sad
2) upbeat, poppy, fem harmonies, electric guitar, fiddle
3) slowed waltz, accordian, acous guit, drums, bass
4) lush and slow, drony bass and beautiful echoey treatments, fem harmonies, trumpet solo, floating
5) even slower ride cymbal beat, piano, stripped down a la Low, subliminable voices
6) upbeat, folky/poppy, accordian+full band
7) Hammond+trumpet, brushed upbeat tom tom beat, Tindersticks
8) slow ride cymbal beat, lush w/accordian, vibrato guit, drony upright bass
9) upbeat happy feel, full band
10) hillbilly waltz w/lead fem vocals, ultra twangy, 55 sec
11) slow twangy fiddle, gets thick w/distorted guit, drony upright, trumpet, slide guit
12) waltz rhythm, mandolin, fiddle, accordian, upright bass, understated drums, twangy, builds as it progresses
