This is a collection of recordings of Bach solo piano works done by the late eccentric virtuoso pianist, Glenn Gould. Gould's interpretation is very straightforward and restrained, with little romantic embellishment. He plays with a delicate simplicity that allows Bach's music to speak for itself.
DISC ONE inventions, partitas, Well-Tempered Clavier, French suites, Goldberg Variations, and others. Track 13 is the most recognizable. Track 32 is perfect. :)
Bright & playful: 2, 3, 4, 11, 18, 20, 21, 26, 27
Majestic: 10, 12, 23
Stately: 1, 6, 8, 14, 16, 29, 35
Too many notes: 5, 7, 15, 28, 31, 33, 34
Minor/Sad: 19, 22, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33
Sweet: 9, 13, 17, 24, 25, 32, 36
DISC TWO is nine tracks of counterpoint organ works. All in minor key.
Tracks 1-7 plod along, 8 & 9 are a little more feisty.
