Tommy Guerrero and Gadget-Hoy Yen Ass'n
Funky down-tempo. San Francisco's Tommy Guerrero and Gadget make some stony, chill music. Jazzy breaks and turntables mixed with real instruments, some rapping and other random noise. This album is hard to describe, other than saying that I like it a lot. Dig any track, start with 2, 7, 1, 3, 4, 6, 10, 11, 12, 14
1) Sparse intro built on percussion loop, spoken samples, gutar, scratching
2) *Groovy mid-tempo breakbeat, layers of bass, guitar, scratching, voices
3) Bass and flute loop, sparse, repetitive, building
4) Dark down-tempo hip-hop interlude with French lyrics
5) Laid back with soul male vocals/samples
6) Ringing synth sample, drum loop, scratched voice samples
7) Down-tempo funk, Spanish vocal samples, Merl Saunders on organ
8) Laughter, FCC: "fucking" during intro, B-boy party chant
9) Laid back steel guitar blues
10) More cool down-tempo French hip-hop
11) Bass loop, crazy scratches and organ
12) Down-tempo, dark drumbreak--classic
13) Very sad, dark, slow
14) Slow orchestral loop
