First album from British electronica artist, ranging from upbeat pop electronics to laid back elancholy numbers. The focus is certainly on the melodic, but each track also contains usually complex, well-defined beat structures. Utilizing a wide variety of methods for sound manipulation, E*vax takes simple, everyday household sounds to nice rhythmics patterns. These patterns are then recontextualized with melody to produce a subtle form of electro-acoustic music - and, amazingly, despite all that, being pop music at heart. The tone of the album is generally bright and optimistic, sometimes mysterious.
