Accessible, sax-led jazz quartet with a laid-back feel and not too many pretentions. Chorney, from Vermont, describes this as a mix between jazz and folk music, and it does come across nicely spare and unencumbered, like folk music can.

It's a 2-CD set:

DISK 1 (White): Uniformly slow-to-midtempo songs, mostly interchangeable. Any one track is OK, but any two together get tiresome -- Chorney just doesn't have enough ideas to fill two CDs. Try #3, a '60s style groove, or #5, which has nice wandering lines. #8 has a gospel tinge. But overall, it's all rather the same; they should have left this disk out.

DISK 2 (Black): Adds a cello and a viola to the quartet, making for a much more creative and varied setting. Highlights:
10- Uptempo, a bit razzy
11- Breezy chamber strings
12- Almost funky, with cello
14- Snappy beat, country/Appalaichan feel
16- Fluttery strings under a bass solo
