Solid, earthly modern bop with touches of "world" music. Trio led by drummer El'Zabar, with David Murray (World Saxophone Quartet) blazing in his sax solos.

This is also the last recording of the late Fred Hopkins (Air, Henry Treadgill, Lester Bowie) on bass. He's got good solos on tracks 4 and 6, and a less inspiring on on track 1.

Recorded in 1997, not released until 2002.

1* - Upbeat midtempo
2* - Mid/fast, with "world-music" hand drums and singing
3 - Low-key, with fast burbling sax
4* - Midtempo and forceful. Murray gets screaming.
5 - Slow, features thumb piano!
6* - Happy swinging midtempo. Murray goes absolutely nuts on sax.
7 - Spoken track; Fred joking with David Murray.
8* - African-tinged blues with vocals.
