Improvised jazz (sax, piano, drums) with a calm feel overall, even though the piano and drums provide fast spurts of noise. Somehow it all gels into a languid kind of groove. |
There's some explosive moments, though -- see the later parts of #2 or the middle of #7.
1- Tense and lingering, very quiet.
2- Lots of sparkly piano; builds at a cautious pace from near-silence to outright loudness.
3- Quick and scattery, but still a languid feel
4- Faster-flowing sax, lots of clackety drums
5- Drifty, murky, with accordion
7- Nineteen-minute piece that starts quietly active, moves into a grand, furious middle section, and ends very quietly.
8- Scattery little piece, nice
