Von's a great old guy who plays old standards but packs his sax solos with out-there licks. He loves to toss fast, angular runs in the middle of otherwise normal-sounding passages, even on the slow tracks. Overall it's a conservative sound with doses of Coltrane-kindled fire here and there. 2- Unaccompanied sax with some nice off-kilter runs. 3* - Midtempo upbeat stepper. 4* - Starts mellow, gets into a fast fast clip 5- Slow and romantic 6* - Corny longe sound, mellow jazz guitar ... but some nice crazy/burbling sax soloing going on 7 - Slow blues 8 - Gentle, slow, happy, sentimental |
