From Senegal. Lyrics in French and Wolof, mostly strong comments on problems facing contemporary Africa (AIDS, urbanization, etc.) It’s a very quiet album, usually just a guitar, light percussion, and a voice. The voice is rough, full of emotion, and quite compelling.
*1. Relaxed guitar, nice vocals. Simple but powerful.
2. Mid-tempo w/acousic & electric guitar & perc.
3. N’diaye on vox & guitar, slower w/a lovely sadness.
*4. Mid-tempo w/soaring vocals.
5. Slower, w/a sense of tragedy.
6. Mid-tempo song of cultural identity.
*7. Quiet, on the hopeless life of the street vendors.
*8. Pretty melody, vocal harmonies. A love song.
9. Slow, quiet, and sad.
