Oh Me Oh My...

Low-fi folky weirdness from Michael Gira’s (Swans) Young God label. Even the cover artwork looks Swans (was indeed designed by Gira) and the music sure feels that way, like lo fi ghetto blaster late night rough ideas, drafts for Swans songs recorded with an acoustic guit and singing. Sounds of birds and cars etc imply it was recorded during the day out in a park. Vocals are double upped, female, Jarboe-soul-swanky-swampy-smarmy-gospel at times with some strange Diamanda Galas freakout moments. Simple guitar and that’s about it. I’m one of the biggest Swans fans in the world but I find some of this pretentious. Regardless of how I feel, its still cool and twisted and since most of the songs clock in under 2 minutes, merciful. Left me realizing how incredible Faun Fables is.
