"Structured improv" quintet -- that is, the music's freely improvised within some boundaries that keep it fairly jazzy. Let by Ramanan on trumpet. Mostly slow jams with an attractive overall sound. It's abstract but doesn't venture overly far into squeak/squonk territory. A couple of fast tracks (4,6) add some spice. Very nice stuff overall; I like the *feel* of this session. 1*- Nice groove: Slow, high drama, lonely trumpet 2- Also slow, more scattered 3- Quiet 4*- Bright, fast, w/active drumming 5- Very quiet 6*- Bright & fast again 7- Slow, with nice composed-sounding opening 8- Zenlike wooden flutes 9*- Tumbling feel, very nice 10*- Slow/midtempo, rather pretty | ||
