Debut CD for singer-songwriter. Pretty female voice on gentle vocal-focused tracks. Would classify as folk-pop, with much more folk, less pop. Most songs are weighty and powerful, and have a slow, tense, sometimes even ominous, atmosphere. The lyrics are generally personal and intimate. The music is fairly sparse and features some wonderful gently-placed use of African drums on several tracks. There are a couple of spoken word tracks (6,13) that didn’t work as well for me. Note FCC on 5. Recommend 2 for typical sound, but also 3,4,8,10.
