Airy, pleasant folkie strumming and singing, heavier rocking and rolling, and lyrics from a liberal arts course of study. Hunt has a good sense of melody and a fine, clear, expressive voice. I really enjoyed most of this, even though the PR materials mention under the heading "Lifestyle" that "two tracks ... are already receiving airplay at Starbucks ... with additional servicing to lifestyle accounts planned" (hello, Pottery Barn). Uncannily, the two tracks are among the least interesting here and you can easily see them being a fave of the latte lifestyle brigade. Much of the album rises above though. Mary's Danish, That Dog, and other LA rock/folk bands would be comparables. (Then again, Starbucks might have been thinking "new Liz Phair".)

1. Syncopated strumming; "shit"
2. Pleasant melody breaks into nasty blues riffing
3. Peppy
4. Just OK
5. A Starbucks pick - and as bland as that may indicate it is
6. Lida Husik-like; pretty, with an edge
7. Instrumential version of 6
8. Rockist guitar married to clear and direct vocals
9. Similar to track 8 but a bit more twangy on the guitar
10. That horror-movie dissonant organ bit puts this over the top though even otherwise, it's pretty cool
11. Dark, deep, even a bit funny
12. Starbucks pick 2 - verses are cool but to-do-doo-doo-dooooo bits grate
13. Mediocre
