DALINDA - Turquoise
Arc Music, 2003

Mostly unremarkable North African/Arabic pop. Dalinda is a Libyan woman of Bosnian ancestry, now living in England and working with Arc's resident uber-producer, Hossam Ramzy. Her voice is not particularly strong, but it is pleasant and she sings in a very straightforward way. You can pick up bits of her Eastern European heritage at the edges of some of the songs. Uneven, but there's some decent stuff here.

Fo's Picks: 1, 2, 6, 10 (maybe 11)

1. 5:08 – straight up, upbeat hip shaker
2. 3:27 – uptempo; good beat, chant vox
3. 4:38 – very diverse, but kinda cheesy
4. 4:30 – lush, smooth ballad w/strings
5. 4:34 – relaxed pop tune, nice trumpet
6. 4:24 – light pulsing rhythm, circular
7. 5:00 – western pop feel, good beat
8. 3:52 – odd sort of gypsy-fied sound
9. 4:39 – midtempo sassy, pretty slick
10. 3:41 – funky rhythm, fits voice well
11. 3:13 – African guitars, layered vox
