Soft bop session that includes some different sounds mainly courtesy of Brandon Ross' changing guitar voices. Overall it's got an accessible, warm, easy sound, but Miles is amenable to some out-there ideas (I've seen him play with Tim Berne, for example.) You can hear some of that adventure lurking in tracks 2 and 3, and it really comes out on track 5.

Ron Miles is based in Colorado. He seems to prefer a Lee Konitz kind of openness, where the compositions are constructed to allow lots of sponteneity, but the overall sound is still "normal" jazz.

1- Gentle and catchy, would make a nice closing track for some albums
2*- Midtempo soft bop w/grinding guitar solo
3- Slow, w/wah-wah guitar. Simple and kind of bland.
4- Soft, comforting
5*- Fairly mellow; includes a laid-back free-jazz break
6- Gentle toe-tapper
7*- Softly funky snap
