GREAT! Ranging from wonderfully twangy ambient textures to dancy post-punk songs, this album is a fantastic retrospective of solo experiments from Band of Susans guitarist Robert Poss, a punk rocker who discovered John Cage and minimalism. Most of the tracks are great, though I prefer the drony experiments over the songs. Think also of My Bloody Valentine.
1, 2, 5, 6, 10
1. beautiful looped twangy drony guitar texture.
2. heavily echoed guitar blips, robots communicating in a cavern
3. steady overdriven drums with groovin bassline and twangy guitars
4. synth twang drone
5. midtempo groove with drums, dancy bassline, and vocals
6. sonic youth groove, drony bassline with evolving guitar harmonies
7. deep bell-like drone from the bottom of a bottomless abyss
8. slow, wandering, slightly island-y guitar fantasy 9. synth drums, feedbacking guitar harmonics
10. droning distorted twangy guitars. god bless my bloody valentine!
11. like #11 but more rhythmic drone
12. guitar riff with vocals
13. mean dense bassline, drums, and 80s sounding chorus-y guitar
14. percussion with screeching guitar feedback.
15. nice wall of loops and noises and riffs over a steady bassline
16. pop song with drums, drony guitars. not bad.
