WTF? Did someone slip some noise reduction equipment into the studio when Guitar Wolf were out combing their 'dos. This album, though it still consists of primal, reductionist three-chord rock that the Swedes and the one-word-name bands of recent vintage also love so much, lacks that layers-of-audio-crud production that has been such a big part of their appeal. (If you don't believe that after listening to this CD, check out "Jet Generation" in the CD library.) Mitigating factors - 1) they sing in Japanese, not broken English, this time; 2) there's a badass-posed photo of the band on every page of the booklet. Track 9 is a bluesy workout. Otherwise the tracks are raw rock played fast and loud, just like Link Wray and Johnny and Joey would have it played. |
