Album Review

Pretty and organic music, lots of acoustic guitar, but some outside-jazz color as well. Very melodic overall.

Tracks 1-5 are primarily acoustic guitars, for a mostly tranquil sound (#2 being a brash exception). Tracks 6-11 are jazzier and longer, featuring SS Puft, the out-jazz band Hinds leads in Athens, Ga.

Hinds plays a homemade 7-string guitar called the h'arpeggione.

1- Almost new-agey guitar + male wordless vocal. Pretty.

2-5: DIORAMA OCTET (acoustic, mostly peaceful)
2- Slashing guitar and some menacing riffs. Starts tranquil.
3, 4- Pastoral/folky
5- Crawling dissonance, w/drum solo

6-11: INDIVIDUATION SUITE (jazzier and noisier)
6,7 - Very cool tangly guitar intro, then a louder electric theme.
8- Fast and a bit dark
9- Quick-stepping, tuneful jazziness
10- Fast cascading arpeggios, very cool
11- Growly start, ends angelic and floaty
