Bloom is a saxophonist in the downtown NYC circle, but she's always leaned toward a more mainstream sound -- a few outside ideas around a near-mainstream core.

This is a tribute to Jackson Pollock, but it's not the wild abandon you'd expect... most of the album is abstract and nonlinear, but in a slow, contemplative way. Pianist Fred Hersch keeps things particularly soft, although he does nice Cecil Taylor-like dabbling on tracks like 7 and 8.

- Mid/fast, breezy. Opens soft and overly emotive.
*- Stormy but peaceful, w/Mark Dresser bass solo behind cool Bobby Previte drums
- Solo soprano sax, a warm but mournful call
- Spirited bop, after slow start
- Soft, sad, sentimental
- Midtempo
*- Scattery, fast. Ends w/splashes of electronics
*- Quietly abstract
*- Midtempo, melodically dizzy
