FELLER QUENTIN • THE CAT IN THE TREE WITH A MOUSE IN ITS TEETH Feller Quentin is the genius behind the SF band Hattattak and the Forest Fires Collective… and yes genius is the right word. This guys pumps out songs like its pee pee. This is his 4th or so solo record which consists of brilliantly arranged and composed Pop/Bues/Experimental/Folk songs all recorded performed by Feller himself. Lyrically Feller gives the ear plenty to digest: funny, poignant and poetic. Lovers of John Fahey, Beck, Ween, Can, the Microphones… This is a MUST PLAY! 1- Funny quick dity of a childs toy… works best played directly into track1 2*- elctro and reg drums with fingerpicked guitars. Funny & strange story 3*-great song, weird and dissonant, mono voice and dance beat kicks… 4-kind of a romantic song, straight and blue grassy… lots of mandolin 5**-quick dark Fahey guitar with spacy vocals.. beautiful 6- strange stomp about jezus.. 7*-finger stylings , upbeat with cool backwards rhythm and vocals. Great middle section… longer song.. 8- upbeat ditty 9- funny lyrics, happy feeling with and solid groove.. Think early Beck 10**-Odd Guitar, melodic and funny… creative rhythm work… crazy middle… beautiful ending, fahey all the way… 11**- strummed guitar, dual vocals, Odd and spacy… cool baby cool 12*- Devious bass, great lyrics about a magickal beast! Dark & dissonant at times. 13**- one of my favs, about his pants, great guitar work, dark 14- Funny Sample from beginning 15*- “Woman & Man, what is the mystery?” 16*- Great ditty with Dave Van Ronk singing in the background. Simple & dark 17-Spacey instrumental w/ sirens & bass… cool.. very different… 18- weird falsetto vocals and strummed guitar. Cracked-out groove kicks in later… tHE bAWD oF eUPHONY |
