Art Is Anything You Can Get Aw

Spoken word/poetry slam action from 3 very talented guys from the Bay Area (the CD doesn’t say where in the Bay Area though. Their website isn’t working right now). Tracks 5, 6,8 & 11 were recording on Crisco Jones’ show right here @ KZSU. They call their work “sucker punch spoken word” but there’s a lot of punch and a no “sucker” in here.
All 3 of these guys have distinct & direct voices so they work well both collectively & individually. The only drawback is that a few tracks are very uncool to the ears of Mikey Powell & his FCC posse.
1) Multi-voiced piece about guns - takes a variety of situations and puts in the perspective of the victims/others effected by gun violence. 2) Damn, this is sooo good but so NOT good for us gambling against the FCC. Sample quotes “You’ve got frat-fuck, date rape homophobes wearing another man’s name on their underware !” (Sad but true!) “We need to put the fear of god in these ‘No Fear’ wearin’ motherfuckers...” and lots more tasty, loud sarcasm!
((3)) Solo piece by Rupert about The Philippines. Historical & personal merged together. ((4)) A hi-larious piece all about dating crazy women, funny as hell! FCC’s “fuck”; (1x) “shit” (x2) ((5.)) Solo piece by Rupert about some super shitty day at work dealing with an annoying racist, SUV jock-ass customer FCCs: “shittty” (2x) “shit” (3x) “fuck” (1x) “Courtsey is a value often tested by it’s opposite” (Ohhh how I can relate!).
((6)) Solo piece by Jamie - an interesting story about about passing out on his mattress with a bottle of wine & trying to figure out how he got there...deals with the awkwardness of a sexual situation. FCC’s: “bullshit”..”fuck”, “Fuckin” (each said once).
((7)) Deals with suicide & the whole relationship of the artist to their audience...dark but uplifting in a way. All very well done & rather hip-hop tempoed. Stuff like this should be on MTV constant repeat - instead of the swill they sell the kids.
((8)) Solo piece by Jamie - about alcohol, being a working stiff, Hemingway, & getting through life “stress is nothing than the time and pressure measured against everything else in your life”. Wow! FCC: “Fuck” (1x)
((9)) Solo piece by Rubert about cultural imperialism against Asian-Americans. Excellent! 10) General talk about a tattoos, not really worth playing. (11.)) Solo piece by Geoff. Deals with teaching his daughter, life lessons, et. al. Sad but also kind of positive in many places. “never let reality tell you what your imagination is worth”.
12.) Short piece that gets into ‘what’s my motivation’? FCC’s “Fuck” ((13.)) Heavy post-breakup situation with some insane recipie of catharasis. “Nothing to do but get high and stare at the cat”., “washing out my mind with whiskey and broken glass” (ouch!) FCC’s “shit”
((14.)) Asks the question “if I told you...how I party, fuck, I’m take pain, et. al.” FCC’s “fuck” (2x) uh...wait a mniute about 75% of this is FCC UN-friendly. Edits will just weaken this 15.) Short piece with some dude named The Big Chief from KZSU talking to the 3 SK’s & guest. FCC’s “fuck”.
