Horn-heavy free jazz quintet, a 1983 recording of a long-standing Detroit band featuring Faruq Z. Bey. Great stuff, combining (as you'd expect) free-wheeling bebop with African rhythm ideas. Liner notes give the band's history.

- Mostly slow-paced and enrapturing, with temple-meditative opening and a good fast sax solo from -7:30 to -4:30. (16-minute track)

- Mysterious riff opening, into a faster blazing segment. STOPS around -14:00. Second half opens with a drummerless sax interlude and builds to a loud blazing crescendo. Last 3 minutes quiet. (26-minute track)

- Cool mysterious polyrhythm
- Slow New Orleans blues, minor key
- African drum break
- Slow procession
- Mid/fast Sun Ra tune, cool bebop feel
