Sweet as a bed time story and a smooth kiss on the forehead. Slow, ambient, dark, dreamy, syrupy pop with beautiful and gentle electronic kicks (organ, synth, keys). Magnus Sveningsson of Swedish group the Cardigans is reincarnated as Righteous Boy. Think of Leonard Cohen. This is like Leonard Cohen meets Stereolab (but not sure about the Stereolab part). Perhaps, Leonard Cohen meets the Cardigans. Only this one bypasses all the sappy pop elements of the Cardigans, and it scores much-much higher. At times, you may get a strong sense (an evasive darkness) of Factory records and of the Manchester rave scene of the late 1980s-early 1990s. Beautiful! Nicely Done! Play 8, 4, 3, 6, 10. 1. Accordion-sounding keyboard melodies. Funky rhythmic attacks on electric guitar and ethereal vocals. 2. Love confessions. Sweet, slow, dreamy. 3. Leonard Cohen-esque lead and backing vocals. Dub elements (bass delays, drop outs, andother effects). Sparse melodramatic notes on keys. 4. Upbeat, groovy and dancey. Heavy funky guitars and nice organs. 5. A teary love song. An epic composition. Violins and a million layers of synth sounds. 6. Beautiful vibraphone-sounding synth melody. Straight-forward dreamy vocal melodies. 7. Acoustic strings of baroque mood and dark sentiments. 8. New Order/Happy Monday-ish. Heavy synth beats and a jangly goth-like club atmosphere. Factory records, Manchester raves and ecstasy. 9. Dissonant keys. Fiercely dark and spooky vocals. A bitter melody on the chorus. 10. Love the organ. Decently hypnotic. 11. See track 3 minus the dub elements. Sexy. Mesmerizing. Synth solo reminds the Doors. 12. Mesmerizing pop melody. Ethereal and syrupy. |
