There are some great, mellow indie pop songs here led by Dean Wareham of Luna and Galaxie 500 fame. Is he dating Britta Phillips? A neat factoid about her – she used to be the voice of Jem from the 80s rock cartoon Jem and the Holograms. Though she is hot, and her voice has the same sweetness of Saint Etienne, she sometimes strays melodically just a little too close to the border of pop diva for me. Dean, on the other hand, has a much better sense of understatement in melody. In addition to the very typical Luna sounding songs here, there are also some nice covers - Silver Jews’ Random Rules, the Doors’ Indian Summer, and Angel Corpus Christi’s Threw it Away.
