his voice sounds like matt Johnson of 'the the'. <sigh> well… I picked this up hoping it was the Stephen Smith who makes glass marimbas, Aeolian harps and composed crop circle music but no. This is a young guy with a guitar and a lot to say about politics. Very KPFA. mostly speak-singing w/solo guitar. 1. spoken rap w/acoustic guitar. We the people are revolting. 2.like #1 but shorter 3.like #2 4.interesting guitar work. repetition in vocals vaguely hypnotic 5.reworking of that poem "why is your sword so red with blood?" around a school shooting. (It's imperialism's fault, and dad's fault cuz he owns a gun) +6.yay! fiddling! no belabored politics! no vocals at all!!! 7. noooooooooooooo. too , oh, yucky. +8. simple electric guitar, good and energetic, he sounds happy. 9. I'm everyman, don't pigeonhole me, because I am everyman. nice conceit. +10.melodic, real singing. ordinary folk song. politics slightly less obvious. 11. sounds important but I don't get it. 12.pretty and inoffensive. sounds more like the the than anything else. +13.good work song strange production makes this artier than intended |
