Danny and the Nightmares -- The End is Near Again

Daniel Johnston playing noisy garage rock -- same warbling childish Daniel voice, backed by a bunch of teenagers playing spooky garage riffs, which unfortunately don't vary much from song to song. Very low-fi recording -- recorded live to a boom-box and 4-track in someone's house -- and Daniel's vocals are sometimes lost beneath the noisy fuzz. Not as good as Daniel's solo work, but somehow it works -- Daniel's moaning weird lyrics about Jesus Christ, Captain America and monsters mesh with the driving punk riffs -- like the soundtrack to a schizophrenic's swirling stream-of-consciousness.
PICS: 1, 2, 4, 5 FCC -- 7
1. best song -- love, Bibles, Christmas -- "love will always win"
2. distorted echoing vocals
3. Daniel talking with garage rock in background
4. fast rocker
5. starts with sample about haunted house, then whiny moaning lyrics
6. slow new wave-ish keyboards, distorted lyrics
7. Daniel talking about love then some kind of screaming beat poetry -- FCC -- shit
