An album of pretty lullabyes from all countries. Most are in languages other than English, which helps mask the fact that they’re lullabyes. Many have a shimmery echo effect and synth chords that are sposed to make you sleepy--so some tracks tend to sound a bit too much like music for your baby. But they’re nice and soothing. I’d play them for my baby if I had one. * 1. (4:28) happy slow; female African vocals, guitar (by Santana), full-sounding * 2. (4;12) lone acoustic guitar and low male African vocals with choral harmonies 3. (3:09) very echoey, with bell-like synths; female vocals, Scottish tune (in English) 4. (4:05) piano, soft gospel-sounding, smooth female African vocals over choral harmonies (shimmery echo) * 5. (2:32) a cappella, with neat counterpoint/harmony. Female voices en español * 6. (1:40) acoustic guitar and single male voice, sunset song—Australian aboriginal * 7. (2:59) like a slow train? acoustic guitar, female voice, triangle, harmonica. Portuguese 8. (4:16) enya-esque. Smooth, synthy and Celtic. Sung in Celtic and English 9. (2:58) minor key, acoustic guitar and female voice; sung in Hebrew * 10. (4:05) acoustic guitar, traditional Japanese instruments, water flowing; Instrumental 11. (2:25) slow, sad waltz tempo; synths and female voice—native Argentinian tribe * 12. (1:50) minor key, shimmery bells and strings; Sephardic lullaby 13. (1:48) slow synth chords, high female voice; Russian --reviewed by mandy (la chanteuse) |
