Two-sax free jam, and it really is an all-star lineup: Marshall Allen (the Arkestra) and Kidd Jordan on sax; bassist Alan Silva and (because it's the law) William Parker; Hamid Drake on drums. High energy session with enough slowdown points to catch your breath. Every track gets pretty fierce at some point; they're all keepers. All tracks segue. 1*- Slow bass-y start, grows into tense shrieky sax duel 2*- Faster pace, high energy. Some sqawky, vicious bass bowing toward the end 3- A break. Quiet bass solo starts; followed by some fast, spirited playing and a quiet segue 4- Starts slow, brash, angular. Loosens up and speeds up later 5*- Relatively quiet but still forceful. Starts with a relaxed, bluesy sax soliloquy 6- Bass solo again, develops into a cluttery jungle pulse. Long, quiet ending. | ||
