Seòor Coconut and his Orchestra: Fiesta Songs
Label: Emperor Norton

Seòor Coconut is best known for El Baile Aleman, where he covers Kraftwerk classics in Latin-dance. This latest CD features a mix of straight up original Latin songs and five absolutely hilarious (and excellent) Latin-ized reproductions of Michael Jackson, Sade, the Doors... I loved all of the covers (1,3,4,7,9), and the non-covers are quite good in their own right.

1. prog rock classic reinterpreted into swanky cha cha
2. groovy traditional Latin cha cha w/ some electronic effects
3. this is excellent – even includes the psychedelic vibe of the Doors classic
4. funny, & a hundred times better than Sade’s version
5. lively congas & vocals & a great breakdown
6. instrumental – excellent percussion
7. ooh, a swanky Latin-ized ballad serenade – another awesome cover
8. has a retro lounge vibe to it, w/ all the horns & everything
9. the congas & drums are amazing on this awesome Michael Jackson cover
10. a fun mambo – groovy vocals and catchy melody
11. (secret track) – a Spanish version of #1 (“Smoke on the Water”)
