Pepe Deluxe - Beatitude
Fairly eclectic pop electronica. The duo of Pepe Deluxe combine a great number of elements into their songs and frequently they hit upon very interesting combinations, however lots of the songs go over the top and become too busy. That, and their vocalists almost always detract. Played on it's own, many tracks on this album are quite good, but when listened to all the way through this album becomes downright annoying especially when you get to the 5 bonus tracks at the end.
1) *Spoken sample intro, slightly cheesy fuzzy synth
2) *Wah-wah guitar and turntables, hard choppy funky distortion with robot voice
3) Acoustic guitar loop, relaxed, drifting with slightly off key female vocal sample
4) Odd male soul vocals, medium groove with a cinematic bridge
5) Phone intro, female vocals very slow tempo
6) *Processed organ and guitar, up-tempo
7) Surf rock inspired with pretty cheesy male vocals
8) Sparse intro, building
9) *Relatively simple, quiet slow pop with male vocals.
10) Female vocals, distorted guitar, organ/moog crazyness
11) Down-tempo pop, female vocals
12) Strings
13) Great intro with mix of folk with some Lalo Schifrin soundtrack type stuff, then a cool sinister groove, but then when the vocals start it kinda sucks
14) Acoustic guitar, synth, female vocals, mildly cheesy pop, long silence at the end.
15) Vocal sample intro
16) *Cut up Bollywood
17) Tense up-tempo intro with ultra cheesy vocals in Spanish--Is this a cover of a Parchis song??
18) Glitchy and sparse
19) Vocal outro with fanfare
