Great comp, sampler of Mister Records artists. Along with Bulb and Load, this label tops my list for strange noisy fucked up artists. This comp fits the bill: all low-fi, a lot noisy, ranging widely from “anti-folk” to hip hop to “electroclash” to balls out noise garage. Great stuff!! 1) anti-folk? Acous guit and noises, low fi 2) spooky synth/new wave/goth a la Lost Sounds, Phantom Limbs 3) strange spoof (?) of house/trance music, bad string of FCCs in the sample at 3:40 4) FCCs, with a name like “Pornbelt”…you bet its good, too bad about the FCCs (fuck, shit, tits, etc), snotty all girl rock, grimey dirty 5) hip hop, simple electro beat, girl rapper addresses frat boys and poseurs 6) ¾ gothy dissonant guit riff, spooky echoey vocs in vein of track 2 7) folky guit, cheesy rock ballad 8) metallic doomy rock 9) slight blues, twangy, dark subdued swamp 10) funky electro feel, female vocs, this one is the sore thumb fer sure, sex content a la Peaches 11) noisy pounding, Wolf Eyes’esque 12) weird slightly swingy rock 13) chill, spacey, psyche, ambient w/ upbeat drums 14) burlesquey twist on children’s rhyme, FCCs “fuck” @ 1:48, 1:52 15) psychey low fi power pop 16) driving urgent noisey prog/post rock, instrumental a la Trans Am 17) mellow acoutic guit sing-songwriter, silly strange lyrics, hilarious 18) dirty grimey distorto garage version of Hendrix classic “hey joe” | ||
