The Westland Steel Band in a 1967 release . Good notes discuss the 4 types of drums used: ping pong (soprano); guitar pan (alto); cello pan (tenor); the boom (bass); plus a shac-shac (gourd filled with seeds). The limited choice of instruments means the tracks do tend to sound alike. All instrumentals.
1. Light, bouncy, and catchy.
*2. Bright with more of a melody.
3. Midtempo & relaxed w/nice drum harmonies.
4. A happy carnival sound..
*5. Relaxed & swaying w/nice interplays.
6. Upbeat with good changes of rhythm.
*7. A nice mambo-esque track.
8. Sweet & lowkey w/a bit of a romantic flair.
9. Upbeat and easy going.
10. Bright and relaxed w/a fun sort of repetition.
*11. Steel band “highlife” music.
12. Mid/uptempo w/some playful interludes.
