This album blends old wave with new wave; the keyboard-drenched, art-school pop of the ’80s shines through on their debut album and grants listening ears with unique sounds and explorations of well-known instruments. The enchanting caress of Emily’s voice compliments each track in just the right ways, giving the release an overall sense of rising stardom. A wonder addition to any Indy/Pop collection, and seeing them live, I hear, is quite an experience!
Originating in Toronto, Emily Haines (vocals) and James Shaw (guitars, vocals) gave birth to what we know as Metric. Picking up a bassist (Josh Winstead) and drummer (Joules Scott-Key) on their way to LA, Metric rooted and gave us an incredible mingling of sounds.
