From Nashville, Emery Reel play cathartic post-rock instrumentals driven mostly by sentimental guitars, vibraphones, drums, bass and keys. Although their sound is formulaic in that a sad introspective groove always builds into a spaced out noisy catharsis, they do have some quite pretty moments and create some decent wall of sound noise textures. A for effort. Think also of Mogwai and Mono.
2, 3, 4.

1. expansive, orchestral. nice texture, w/ some horns and blips.
2. pretty and post-rockin’ epic, loud intro then cuts back. sentimental middle section w/ island guitar melody, thick spacey noise at end.
3. midtempo drum and sustained synth chord groove w/ melodic, pretty guitar and vibraphone arpeggiations. Builds to climax at end.
4. slow drony guitar arpeggio and vibe melody. gets loud and brings it back down for sentimental quiet guitar melody. decent.
5. slow groove w/ shimmery synth and e-bowed guitar. goes on forever but has very nice noise texture at the end.
6. midtempo groove w/ driven mostly by sentimental guitar arpeggio, distant guitar e-bow. also breaks into some nice noise at the end.
7. epic long song. starts w/ backwards cymbals, wandering guitar/vibe melody. then quiet guitars and atmospheric noises, horn blips. builds.
