A mélange of laid-back jazzy guitar-based instrumental grooves, not unlike Tortoise and its many offshoots and imitators. The pieces are obviously (in both senses) composed, moving from serene to upbeat (though never breaking a sweat) and back again. There are vague melodies to be detected among the chords but really it’s more of an osmosis experience than an interactive one to absorb these tunes. If osmosis is what you’re after, this’ll do nicely. Your other favorite Canadian four-word-name large-ish instro-rock band (GYBE) may be a reference point. Or Tristeza.
