Wehrwolfe – Godless We Stand (Magicka Records)
Metal! The melody of some of the less melodic NWOSDM bands is combined with the orchestral grandeur and infinite tempo changes of some quasi black metal bands, and then spiced up with some typical anti-Christian, death ‘n’ destruction, or general bloody matter lyrics, and then baked in an oven of pure shredding wankery. Just... awesome! Super vicious, brutal, and totally unrelenting, the only times when you get some peace and quiet is during the instrumental interludes. Inhuman double bass work, sick vocals, excellent riffing (even highly technical), and superb solos that remind me of Nile a little bit. Overall, an excellent CD.
Tracks:
1) Intro, ignore.
2) Right out the gates with anger and a great growl that sounds like grind. FCC (shit at –2:50).
3) Quiet intro, and then BAM! it explodes, the vocals on this one are killer! Awesome solo, too.
4) Layered vocals and so many time changes that I lost count. Excellent drumming, blast beats everywhere.
5) Starts out with a layered guitar solo and whispered vocals. Becomes more traditional death later on. FCC.
6) Interlude, pointless.
7) FCCs, which is a shame because this is an awesome anthem, a call to arms.
8) Another instrumental piece, except that it’s good this time around, and it segues right into...
9) This awesome song that acts as the final reminder of how evil and anti-Christian these guys are. Cool!
10) Instrumental outro, sounds like a reprise, has some spoken word thrown in to make it even more unnecessary.
11) A Coroner cover! Worth the price of admission just for this song. Awesome.
